BushWhacker Banks at XRP To Secure 2024 Championship
In a thrilling season finale at Xtreme Raceway Park, three drivers came into the event with a solid shot at securing the 2024 Lone Star Forklift Outlaw Fuel Altered Championship! Jody Austin, Jimmy Jones and Clint Cross were the drivers who had all the pressure on their shoulders and with a 15 car field of winged warriors, the competition was plenty tough!
In an incredible turn of events, Jody Austin and Clint Cross squared off in the final round. Cross came into the final with a 5 point lead. If Austin won the round, he would tie for the Championship with Cross. In the event of a tie, three procedures are in place to break the tie (events attended, final round appearances and average qualifying position). All three of those tie breakers were also TIED!
The OFAA rules committee voted on-site to apply a fourth tie breaker which would be based on the reaction time from the final round. And here we go! Jody Austin lays down a 3.78 at 183 mph to narrowly defeat Clint Cross' 3.79 at 195 mph and Austin sealed the deal with an impressive .024 reaction time to Cross' .116. Congratulations to Jody Austin and the entire "BushWhacker Racing" on a thrilling final round and 2024 Lonestar Forklift Championship winning effort and to all the Top 10 finishers of the season.
This season will mark the end of the Outlaw Fuel Altered Association as it has been known for 28 years since its inception in 1996 by Bobby and Nancy Marriott. Moving into 2025 and beyond, the series will be re-named and hosted exclusively at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas who will also handle the operations of the series.
To everyone who has ever raced, supported and been a part of this amazing series, we say thank you! Long Live Fuel Altereds!
